Recommended Books for Children

Not sure which books your children will want to read over and over again? Having trouble choosing a gift for a friend? Check out these tried and tested ultimate favourites in our home.

There are so many books available. How do you know which ones are well written or will become your children's favourites? It is very important to ONLY read good quality literature to your children. These words and stories that they listen to are part of how they learn to speak, write, and tell their own stories. If we want our children to excel in Language Arts, we must set high standards and only expose them to the best literature available. There are so many stories to read that we should only spend time with ones that model good behaviour, morality, dignity and respect, as well as proper grammar. Children often beg for a book to be read several times in a row and for many days or weeks in a row! Be patient and take the time to read it as often as they ask for it. It is through this repetition that they learn. Each time the story is read, they notice new words, they memorize grammar and vocabulary. This is why it is important to have a personal home library filled with high quality literature. These books will be memorized and become a part of your child - forming their "world" and shaping their life. The more you read to them, the more they will learn. Enjoy!
