Melanie's Knitting Gallery

2009

I made this hat out of leftover yarn from
Justice's sweater. He wears both of them
ALL the time.

Mishkin asked me to make him a tight hat with
an extra-wide brim that covers his ears.

Lisa is always cold and had asked me to make her
some socks last year. I was hoping to make her
some really nice socks - it was on my to-do list
but hadn't gotten done yet. When I saw her borrowing
some of Shabnam's neon yellow wool socks I decided
it was time I just made her some.
These took me 3 days to make.

I made up the pattern as I was going along. It was
too tight for her shins so I had to come up with
a looser pattern for the ankles. Truly home-made
socks. She loves them.

I couldn't resist the beautiful colors of this sock yarn.
These are for my good friend Katie.

I think I'm going to make a pair of these for myself.
The colors go great with jeans. The pattern is called
Monkey socks. Easy and beautiful.

I've been waiting to try this pattern for a while but the
Noro Kureyon yarn is $40 for this scarf so I've been
patient. Boxing day I finally got the yarn and I've
been just giggly knitting this up and watching the
colors unfold. It looks like it glows.

This scarf is just gorgeous! The color changes are
unique to the Noro yarn.

Verity always wants me to knit her stuff.
This will be a hat, scarf, mittens set.
It's striped like the Noro scarf.
Love the pompom ears.

Verity loves her new hat. Oddly, this hat fits
every member of our family - including Mishkin.
It's kind of like the Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants.

I made the mittens with extra-long cuffs so there's
no chance that snow will sneak in while she's
playing outside.

Finished just in time for Ayyam-i-Ha!
She was so thrilled!

I made Rob some cool Retro ribbed socks
for Ayyam-i-Ha. I'm sure he'll love them.

A more accurate sample of the warm
autumn colors. As soon as I saw this yarn,
I thought they had to become socks for Rob.

An Ayyam-i-Ha scarf for Valerie. Originally, I was going
to make her socks but as soon as I started knitting I
thought it would be a tragedy to have such gorgeous
colors on one's feet - it needs to be up close to your
face where everyone can see it. The yarn is called
"Peacock" by MadelineTosh. No one can put colors
together like MadelineTosh. A lacy pattern that took
a long time because of scarf length but very easy
and enjoyable to knit. It was a joy just to see the colors
coming onto my needles. What a trip!
